Yankees are finished

Is any Yankees fan really surprised that they gave up a four run lead with three innings to play; and to a team with one of the worst team batting averages in MLB? Yesterday's loss was just so typical 2008 in that they found another way to blow one. Whether it's been untimely hitting, or the game's all-time closer throwing wild pitches, or just an errant flip to second base in an attempt to turn an easy inning-ending double play...it doesn't matter why or how. What matters is that the team does not play as if it knows it's going to win. It plays as if it is hoping to win. All the effort and hustle in the world will not get any team a play-off spot if it doesn't have that necessary intangible-supreme confidence. I bet if someone other than a sports media employee asked Derek Jeter whether or not he feels the Yanks have a chance-he'd say "no".

Jeter is the only yankee that thinks they can win and you will see som big changes in hitting over the naxt 6 weeks!!

I don't know who "anonymous said" is...but the only way we see a big change in the hitting in the next 6weeks is if we go watch Tampa Bay or Boston play. This team is TERRIBLE...The hitting coach, who I'm certain we OVERPAY with some ridiculous fee is TERRIBLE, and, Giambi, Jeter, A-Rod, Cano, Damon, Pudge, Abreu and Nady are all...you guessed it...TERRIBLE. I don't care what their average is -- show me their average with RISP. I bet that's...right again...TERRIBLE...hence my point. The Yankees are TERRIBLE.

When was the last time this team actualy hit well in a game with RISP? If you answered LAST SEASON, you are correct.

And, don't get me started in ON Girardi....this YEAR and this year only, I will give him a pass. BUT...the Yankees have been terrible at the plate ALL SEASON - not just a few weeks here and there...ALL SEASON. Now, I understand the manager doesn't get at bats...but he MUST be responsible for the overall play of his team over the course of 162 games. And, with a lineup like the Yankees have - and I don't want to hear about Posada and Matsui being out (look at the Rays and look at Boston for fuck's sake) - this team should be doing much better than they have been doing. What's the solution, you ask? Gget rid of EVERYBODY who is overpaid and over the hill. Do it over the next two seasons. But start this offseason by dealing a couple youngsters while they still have some value. I say trade Melky, trade Cano, trade Kennedy, trade Hughes, too.

Melky sucks - end of story.

Cano only plays 81 games - the rest he seems to be a non-factor in our lineup -- PLUS, he's not really a very good second baseman.

Kennedy -- overrated with underwhelming stuff.

Hughes -- injury prone. I mean, imagine when this guy gets older????

Let Pettite go -- he's done. Giambi - done. Ponsone - done. Pavano - done. Matsui - done.

Take the tit out of Joba's mouth and make this asshole pitch.

What else....? OH YEAH...fire the friggin hitting coach. Hire someone, anyone other than this guy. He is CLOWN SHOES.

The Yankees have made themselves irrelevent in the biggest market. See what money can buy. F Neo thinks he is on the Yankees with his comment "The hitting coach...who I'm certain WE overpay". Typical Yankee fan. That the way to take ownership in a crappy team. Neo probably overpays his girlfriend to stay with him. Get some real material to comment with. The other team, Mets make this year worth watching, even if it is to see them collpse again.

Really? METS fan? Irrelevent? The Yankees will miss the playoffs this year and are still more relevent than that flourescent orange wearing group of HOMOSEXUALS that you and your ENTIRE FAMILY roots for. And, don't tell me they don't, either, because I can smell it on you, AND THEM, from here.

And, yes, I said WE. Sorry it offended you so much...

See, I take personal ownership in my team because I invest so much in them - from being there in person in Spring Training, to going to as many games as I can during the year and overpaying to do so. I feel like we've been thru a lot together - good times and bad - and, when they win - I'm excited - and happy for them - and I feel a part of something bigger than just myself....

Wait...what am I doing...? Am I actually trying to explain that "winning feeling" to a METS FAN? A majority or "you people" are plumbers, right? Or janitors...? Not that there's anything wrong with that...Or grave diggers? Garbagemen? Road construction workers??? Hey, they wear flourescent orange, too!!!!!

What? You're different?

Of course you are. You're a lawyer.

If I were a judge, I would hold you in contempt of court for even trying to convince me that David Wright doesn't BL*W Pedro Martinerz in the dugout during EVERY SINGLE 7th inning stretch of the season.

And you let your family watch that? I bet you support Obama, too.

I don't know why I am even bothering. I guess I have nothing better to do at the moment...seeing as your mom is spent and your wife is out picking me up a sixer of Schlitz and some Camel Wides at the Circle K.

They're good gals, by the way. Like that BL*WJOB team of yours.

How's that for "real material"?

F neo gklutch Spider Spider loser-loser front running jaded Derek is my hero I have three brothers and they all think I suck.... thats right, scared to live in your teams area so you move to the left coast to be safe. Figured you would have switched to root for the Manny filled Dodgers. Listen, I have suffered as a Met fan for years. I bask in the warmth of zero expectations, so when they lose, and they do and will lose, I dont feel bad. As for you Yankee fans, you cry and make excuses and sing the praises of World series wins of the past and 26 wins yada yada yada. You lose. Your stadiums loses. Your team "loser".
Go to Jerrys Deli now and cry in your mushroom barley soup. Oh and tell, Brian, Chris and Rick I said hello.
